Pleasant Grove and Harmony volunteer fire departments joined together Tuesday, April 26, for a joint-training meeting at the Pleasant Grove station. The group of firefighters worked on engine and tender operations, including proper hose and pump use. Eight members of PGVFD and six members of HVFD attended the training. Mark Mahan, PGVFD training coordinator, and Shelby Henderson, HVFD chief, led the training. PGVFD and HVFD are mutual aid partners in Upshur County and are often dispatched to the same emergency calls. Training together promotes coordination between the departments and the opportunity for more firefighters to learn operation tactics in one setting.
